Our adult program focuses primarily on two facets of the Martial Arts, physical fitness and effective self defense training. It is our belief that with a high level of fitness comes confidence, strength, and the upper-hand in self defense situations. Classes begin with high intensity exercises and drills that promote physical fitness and develop Martial Arts skills. Students work on strength, stamina, balance, and coordination, along with striking and blocking techniques that can be used for effective self defense. Students also work on focus drills which increase speed, accuracy, and timing while sharpening technique. Self defense scenarios teach concepts and the application of technique in real life situations. Sparring sessions combine self defense concepts, movements, and techniques into a high-intensity, realistic training segment that mimics real life altercations. In addition to the physical training, our students are also exposed to the history, background, philosophies, and values of Kenpo Karate in order to gain a greater understanding of our style. Finally, it is the combination of discipline, exercise, focus training, self defense, and success training that helps our adult students get fit, have fun, and reach their goals.
